Kazakhstan is set to launch an olive processing plant and olive oil production, reports the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2023, Kazakh companies QVM Technology, Ordabasy Group, and Ervira, in collaboration with the Georgian company Olive Georgia, signed an agreement for the experimental planting of olive tree seedlings in the Zhetysu, Turkestan, and Mangistau regions.

"The first 6,080 seedlings have been planted. Preliminary data shows that 99.7% of the seedlings exhibited a good survival rate. The harvest is expected to be collected in 5 years. In spring 2024, seedlings from Spain and Turkey were planted. By the end of 2025, Kazakh companies plan to plant olive tree seedlings over an area of 1,000 hectares," the information states.

The project will include scientific support: under the guidance of Professor Pablo Morello from the University of Córdoba in Spain, soil, climate, and meteorological data will be collected and analyzed.

It is specified that QVM Technology plans to launch the olive processing plant and olive oil production by 2030.
