Kazakhstan will produce an eco-friendly anti-icing agent.

The product was developed by scientists at KazdorNII.
В Казахстане начнется производство экореагента для борьбы с гололедом.

The anti-icing eco-reagent from KazdorNIИ is set to launch production in Kazakhstan. Last year, at the Kaztraffic exhibition, a new development by local scientists—a de-icing material—was presented to the Ministry of Transport, as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing the institute's press service.

QSmartAntiglaze does not corrode roads, sidewalks, shoes, or car bodies, does not harm trees and shrubs, is safe for human health, and most importantly, it rapidly melts ice and retains its properties even in extreme cold.

Kazakh scientists have not disclosed details about the composition of the new development while the material underwent real winter testing on the roads of one of the northern regions of the country. However, after successful tests, KazdorNIИ shared some details.

"During testing in March 2024 in the Akmolinsk region, where temperatures dropped to -18 °C, the reagent successfully accomplished its task. Representatives from key road organizations in Kazakhstan present at the trial recorded this result as positive and confirmed the need for further implementation of the reagent on the country's roads," the institute noted.

The product has attracted the interest of Kazakh businesses involved in the import of foreign de-icing materials. The enterprise is currently in the process of setting up production of the eco-reagent with scientific support from the research institute's scientists.

"Supporting Kazakh businesses is our priority. We strictly adhere to this position when transferring developments. Additionally, we calculate the production cost and set price limits that the commercial partner should adhere to," - emphasized Dinmukhammet Alizhanov, a researcher at JSC "KazdorNIИ."

QSmartAntiglaze is a colorless liquid that melts ice and snow within 20-30 minutes and continues to work even in severe frosts, preventing the reformation of ice, which is typical for salt-containing reagents that quickly lose their effectiveness when temperatures drop to -10 °C.

One of the main advantages of the Kazakh scientists' development is its eco-friendliness and gentle impact on asphalt, rubber, metals, and concrete, which is especially important for the longevity of roads and maintaining infrastructure in good condition. The new salt-free reagent also does not form toxic compounds in wastewater and air.

"QSmartAntiglaze meets modern environmental safety requirements. Its components decompose after completing their task and do not harm the environment. Thus, it is suitable for use in cities and natural areas where minimizing pollution is important," emphasize specialists from KazdorNIИ.

Other important factors are also noted: low consumption norms, availability, and simplicity in preparing the solution. Its production does not require expensive equipment.
