In 2024, Kazakhstan harvested 26.7 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, as reported by the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture summarizes that the increase in production volumes in crop farming by 21.1% and in livestock by 3.2% contributed to a 13.7% rise in the gross agricultural output, totaling 8.3 trillion tenge.

Currently, 1.1 million people are employed in the agro-industrial complex.

By the end of 2024, domestic food production reached 3.2 trillion tenge, with the physical volume index standing at 102.9%.

The share of processed agricultural products constituted 40%. A Comprehensive Plan for the development of agricultural product processing until 2028 has been approved, under which 286 projects worth 279.6 billion tenge were launched in 2024, including the production of vegetable oil and flour, which not only meets domestic demand but also boosts export potential.

It is noted that the comprehensive plan aims to provide processing enterprises with affordable raw materials and offer preferential loans, which in turn will promote economic growth and improve the social situation of the population.

To reduce import dependence, it is planned to implement 570 projects worth 2.1 trillion tenge by 2027, creating additional opportunities to enhance social infrastructure and improve living standards in rural areas. This includes 105 livestock projects worth 152.1 billion tenge, 101 for the construction of dairy farms totaling 263 billion tenge, 31 for poultry farming at 397.7 billion tenge, and 108 for processing at 582.6 billion tenge.

As a reminder, during an extended government meeting on January 28, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that in 2024, agriculture led the growth rates among other sectors of the economy. This was made possible by a significant increase in preferential lending for spring sowing activities. This year, at least 700 billion tenge should be allocated for these activities, the president declared.
