Russia has lifted temporary restrictions on the import of tomatoes from Kazakhstan, reports a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing the press service of the State Inspection Committee in the agro-industrial complex of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"Following an analysis of materials conducted by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) in collaboration with the Federal State Budgetary Institution 'VNIIKR', as well as negotiations with representatives of the State Inspection Committee in the agro-industrial complex, as of January 16, Rosselkhoznadzor has lifted temporary restrictions on the import of tomatoes from 36 greenhouse complexes in Kazakhstan. The producing enterprises have been included in the list of greenhouse complexes recognized as free from quarantine objects," the statement indicates.
It is emphasized that the Kazakh side continues negotiations to remove restrictions on other types of crop production.
It is worth noting that temporary restrictions were imposed starting October 17, 2024, on the supply of wheat (both soft and hard), lentils, and oilseed flax seeds from Kazakhstan to Russia, with the exception of grain transit, provided that the Kazakh side issues phytosanitary certificates directly for the country of final destination and transfers grain of Kazakh origin from railway cars directly into the ship's holds. Additionally, there is a ban on the import of melons. The prohibition also applies to vegetables from third countries: tomatoes, peppers, and sunflower seeds for planting.
