Repair work at the Tengiz oil field has been completed, reports the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
"According to the information from the subsoil user, the repair work has been successfully finished, and preparations for the launch are currently underway. Full capacity is expected to be reached on January 18 of this year," the industry agency's statement reads.
Recall that the repair work at the largest oil and gas field, Tengiz, began in late October 2024. Production at the second-generation plant in Tengiz was partially halted for maintenance on the "E-401A waste heat boiler of the 400 unit" on October 26, 2024, due to the discovery of localized through-corrosion damage and a "steam leak into the process flow." The repairs were initially scheduled to be completed by November 23. Later, the deadline was shifted to mid-January 2025.
The participants in the operator company LLP "Tengizchevroil" include "KazMunayGas" (20%), Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc (25%), and "LUKOIL" (5%).
