The national company QazExpoCongress has dissolved one of its subsidiary corporate funds as mandated by the Supreme Audit Chamber, reports the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Chamber.
“Following the directive from the Supreme Audit Chamber, the National Company ‘QazExpoCongress’ (the national company) has optimized its structure and dissolved the subsidiary corporate fund ‘Trade and Exhibition Center Kazakhstan.’ The necessity for these measures was identified as a result of a state audit of the activities of the Ministry of Trade and Integration and its subordinate organizations,” the Chamber explained.
According to the Supreme Audit Chamber, the audit revealed that the national company had two corporate funds: the eponymous fund ‘QazExpoCongress’ and the fund ‘TVC Kazakhstan,’ through which targeted funding for the national company and management of the Kazakhstan pavilions at VDNH in Moscow and at EXPO 2020 in Dubai were conducted. However, the insufficient workload of these two non-profit organizations, as well as the duplication of certain functions, raised doubts about the feasibility of their continued parallel operation. In this regard, the Ministry of Trade and Integration, together with JSC ‘NC QazExpoCongress,’ was tasked with carrying out the necessary reorganization.
As a result, the national company, in agreement with the ministry, decided to liquidate the fund ‘TVC Kazakhstan’ and transfer all assets, existing buildings, and contractual obligations to the fund ‘QazExpoCongress,’ the Supreme Audit Chamber reported.
It is worth noting that this year Kazakhstan is preparing to participate in the EXPO exhibition in Japan. The corresponding agreement was signed at the World EXPO 2025 Osaka. The document was endorsed by the leadership of QazExpoCongress and representatives of the exhibition's organizing committee.
“We have already begun preparations for the EXPO 2025 exhibition in Japan. We are working out all organizational aspects and our pavilion for the exhibition, which will be located in the thematic cluster ‘Saving Lives.’ There are still two years until the exhibition, but in fact, time is already short. The exhibition will open on April 13 and will conclude on October 13, 2025. According to the organizers' forecasts, more than 28 million people from 150 countries are expected to visit the exhibition, along with the participation of representatives from 25 international organizations,” noted the chief commissioner of the national section, Daulet Yerkinbayev, in 2023.
It should be emphasized that EXPO 2025 will be held on the artificial island Yumeshima in Osaka. The theme of the exhibition is “Creating a Future Society for Our Lives,” which consists of three sub-themes: “Saving Lives,” “Empowering All,” and “Uniting Lives.” The total area of the exhibition will be approximately 155 hectares. Kazakhstan's pavilion will be located in close proximity to the pavilions of Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Bulgaria.
