Turkish investor Alarko Holding will invest $650 million in a large greenhouse complex project in Shymkent, as reported by the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Deputy Prime Minister Serik Jumangarin held talks with the vice president of the Turkish company Alarko Holding, Shahin Abbasso. During the meeting, the participants discussed the progress of the large-scale investment project for tomato cultivation valued at $650 million. The greenhouse complex and a processing plant for the cultivated products are planned to be built in Shymkent by the end of 2025 in two phases. The first phase will cover 45 hectares, while the second will span 130 hectares," reported the Ministry of Agriculture.

It is expected that once fully operational, the complex will produce 51,000 tons of products annually. The markets for distribution will include both domestic and exports to the Russian Federation, Qatar, and the UAE. Approximately 2,000 jobs will be created at the facility.

The company also plans to establish a factory in Shymkent for the production of greenhouse structures, which will help reduce construction timelines. As part of the project, a specialized academy is also planned to be created for training agricultural specialists according to international standards.

The parties discussed the project and the terms of the investment agreement, which includes measures of state support for the implementation of the investment project. Serik Jumangarin emphasized that the investor would receive comprehensive support and also suggested exploring the possibility of establishing production in other priority sectors of agriculture, including deep processing of grains, sugar beets, and hides.
