A round table discussion on the new law regarding state procurement was held in Almaty. The meeting included the Vice Minister of Finance, Dauren Kenbeil, representatives from government agencies, the Chamber of Entrepreneurs, and deputies from the city Maslikhat. They discussed the key aspects of the Law on State Procurement, which comes into effect on January 1, 2025.

Dauren Kenbeil highlighted that winners of procurement processes will now be determined within 10 working days, and for competitions using a rating-point system, the timeframe is reduced to just 5 working days. Additionally, the conditional discounts for local suppliers have increased from 1% to 2%.

According to the Vice Minister, contracts have already been signed for socially significant projects, with most winners being local companies. In the first month and a half of this year, 330,000 contracts worth over 1.3 trillion tenge have been signed, compared to 339 billion tenge for the same period last year.

The new law is expected to enhance the business climate, improve the quality of purchased goods, and support domestic producers.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Minister of Finance Dauren Kenbeil emphasized: “Our ministry is always open to suggestions from the business sector and government agencies, and we strive to create a fully transparent system for state procurement.”
