Transportation between China and Kazakhstan saw an 18% increase in January, as reported by the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.”
In January 2025, the volume of railway transportation between Kazakhstan and China reached 2.8 million tons, marking an 18% rise compared to the same period in 2024. The border crossing "Dostyk" recorded a 12% increase in transportation, reaching 1.5 million tons. Through the "Altynköl" crossing, 1.3 million tons of cargo were transported, which is a 25% increase compared to January of the previous year.
The export of Kazakhstani goods to China grew by 5%, totaling 1.1 million tons. The transportation of metallic ores increased by 5% (652 thousand tons), ferrous metals by 77% (104 thousand tons), petroleum products by 50% (32 thousand tons), and other goods (bran, feed, vegetable oil) by 30% (215 thousand tons).
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that in 2024, KTZ transported 32 million tons of cargo through Kazakhstan-China links, which is a 13.1% increase compared to 2023.
