The Pavlodar Oil Chemical Plant (POCP) will begin producing winter diesel fuel. As part of the second phase of the reconstruction of the diesel fuel hydrocracking unit (HFU DF), a dewaxing unit is being constructed, as reported by the press service of the national company "KazMunayGas."
The completion of the work is scheduled for the end of the year. The modernization of the HFU DF is being carried out using technology from Shell, which will enable the production of not only summer and transitional diesel fuel but also winter diesel, while maintaining the current capacity of the unit at 2.3 million tons per year.
In the first quarter of 2025, the construction of a second hydrogen production unit with a capacity of 12,500 cubic meters per hour is planned (the plant already has a unit with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per hour).
The commissioning of the joint project with Air Liquide is scheduled for the fall of 2026. Capital investments in the project are estimated at over 80 million euros. Technical hydrogen plays a crucial role in oil refining, used for purifying crude oil from nitrogen, sulfur, and metals in the production of gasoline, aviation kerosene, and diesel fuel.
The implementation of these projects will allow for the production of high-grade winter diesel fuel, which is in demand in the northern and eastern regions of the country.
