Testing of two wells will be conducted at the Central Urytau field.

Its development will enable the extraction of up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas annually at peak production.

At the Central Uritau field, plans are in place to extract up to 1 billion m³ of gas annually. This information was revealed during a working trip to the Aktobe region by Askat Khasenov, the chairman of the board of "KazMunayGas." He held a production meeting at "Uritau Operating," as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing KMG's press service.

"In light of the annual increase in gas consumption, KMG is prioritizing the enhancement of gas resources. Given the high social significance for the Aktobe region and other areas of the republic, the prompt commissioning of the gas condensate component of the Uritau field is a top priority," emphasized Askat Khasenov.

Currently, the company's main activities are focused on the East Uritau field, which was put into industrial development in November 2023.

"During the meeting, issues regarding the preparation for the full-scale development of the Central Uritau field, which has significant natural gas reserves, were discussed. Its development will allow for peak extraction of up to 1 billion m³ of gas per year. In the third quarter of 2025, testing of two gas wells is planned to further update the geological-hydrodynamic model of the field and complete the technical and economic justification of the project," the press service explained.

By the end of 2024, "Uritau Operating" extracted 84,000 tons of oil and 54 million m³ of associated petroleum gas. For 2025, the company has been tasked with increasing production volumes to 92,000 tons of oil and 58 million m³ of gas.

It was previously reported that "Embamunaigas" has begun work to expand the infrastructure for the development of gas deposits at the Western Prorva field. The project will be implemented in three phases. In June 2025, the launch of the first start-up complex is planned, which will allow for an increase in oil production to 45,000 tons per year and gas production to 160 million cubic meters. The second and third phases are scheduled for 2026-2027.

Additionally, "KazMunayGas" has signed agreements with Shell and Chevron for the right to use geological information. This will enable the national company to effectively utilize the results of seismic studies for planning joint geological exploration activities.
