Representatives of Mitsubishi Corporation have expressed interest in expanding the company's presence in Kazakhstan and implementing new initiatives aimed at supporting the sustainable development of the region. Earlier, at the "C5+Japan" forum, Mitsubishi Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with the Central Asia Climate Foundation and Rakurs Tech LLC. The development of cooperation was discussed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "Kazakh Invest" Madiyar Sultankbek, and the General Director of Mitsubishi Corporation in Kazakhstan Tetsuya Sugita.
Alibek Kuantyrov emphasized that Kazakhstan's investment policy is focused on developing high value-added production with an emphasis on further export. Advanced Japanese technologies can play a crucial role in strengthening both the human resources and technological potential.
Mitsubishi Corporation representatives, in turn, presented their corporate strategy aimed at sustainable development and reducing carbon footprint. During the meeting, promising projects were introduced to the Kazakh side, such as the creation of infrastructure for hydrogen technology utilization and the development of solutions in the field of renewable energy. The importance that the company places on energy innovations, digital transformation, and high-tech manufacturing fully aligns with Kazakhstan's goals for developing a low-carbon economy, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The parties discussed key areas for cooperation in sustainable development, including the implementation of advanced technologies and the realization of projects in the energy sector, infrastructure, and industry. As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop cooperation considering the company's global initiatives in energy and digital transformation.
For reference. Since 1993, Mitsubishi Corporation has opened three representative offices in Kazakhstan. Over the years of operation in the country, the corporation has participated in the implementation of several investment projects: "Rehabilitation of roads in Western Kazakhstan," "Reconstruction and improvement of water supply in Kyzylorda," "Supply of equipment for railway repairs," and others. According to the head office in Tokyo, the corporation has supplied 30,000 tons of steel pipes with enhanced corrosion resistance to companies such as "Tengizchevroil" and "AktobeMunaiGaz." In its human resources development activities, Mitsubishi Corporation has sponsored the establishment of several training and research laboratories at KBTU, equipped with modern facilities.
