President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the activities of the Project Office, which is located in the EXPO campus and aims to contribute to the implementation of ongoing reforms and strategic initiatives in the country. Similar structures established by higher authorities operate in several countries. For instance, the United Kingdom has the Prime Minister's Delivery Unit, Malaysia has PEMANDU, and the United Arab Emirates has the Acceleration Office. The Project Office will focus on developing solutions for the effective execution of priority tasks outlined in the messages from the Head of State and the National Development Plan of Kazakhstan, as reported by the Akorda press service.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the progress of strategically important projects, such as the implementation of platform solutions to enhance fiscal sustainability, the development of the Mangistau region, and the formation and development of human capital.
Additionally, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry has formed interdepartmental teams in areas such as transportation and logistics, healthcare, education and enlightenment, energy, water, industry and construction, digital development, innovations, and regional development. This approach will allow for a focus on a limited number of tasks within a narrow field of activity to ensure higher quality and faster results.
After reviewing the presentations, the president emphasized that government members should concentrate on decisive actions to achieve significant results in the country’s socio-economic development.
“We face important tasks. The most critical aspect is to keep a close watch on the progress of the directives given by the Head of State. The primary goal of this center is to enhance the effectiveness of reforms. This area will be coordinated by the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Darkhan Satybaldy. Both ministers and akims must be prepared to make bold decisions. Previously, I set specific tasks for the government. On issues of socio-economic development, it must make necessary decisions independently. I demand concrete results,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The president urged ministers and leaders to focus on several tasks.
“Currently, we are concentrated on large infrastructure projects, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and nuclear energy. These are the key strategic areas for the development of our country. The government must prioritize these important issues in its work,” he emphasized.
The Head of State specifically addressed the prospects for the development of nuclear energy.
“Regarding the construction of nuclear power plants, we need to accelerate. I have already mentioned in interviews that we will build two large plants, possibly three. We must turn Kazakhstan into a country with developed nuclear energy, a nation where artificial intelligence functions and digitalization operates at full capacity,” concluded Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
