The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Astana International Forum (AIF) will take place on May 29-30, 2025, under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Heads of states and governments, as well as leaders from the corporate and academic sectors, will participate in the forum. Attendees will discuss critical issues that shape the future of the international system, alongside emerging trends affecting key industries.
“The event's program, divided into three main themes – Foreign Policy and International Security, Energy and Climate Change, Economics and Finance – includes high-level sessions with heads of states and industry leaders, as well as larger panel discussions featuring prominent experts and politicians... Each session will aim to develop new perspectives on the diplomatic, economic, and social issues that will define the next decade. Under the theme ‘Uniting Ideas, Creating the Future,’ this year’s forum will set the agenda for a new era of multilateralism and diplomacy,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

In 2023, more than 5,000 international guests participated in the AIF.
Earlier, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov signed an order “On the Approval of the Composition of the Organizational Committee for the Preparation and Conduct of the Astana International Forum.” The chairman of the organizational committee will be the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy, the deputy chairman will be the Vice Minister of National Economy, and the secretary will be the Deputy Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration.
In February 2025, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangariny reported that the organization and conduct of the Astana International Forum would cost approximately 4.5 billion tenge.
In April 2024, due to massive flooding in Kazakhstan and the need to conserve financial resources for relief efforts and support for the citizens, the president decided to cancel the Astana International Forum scheduled for June 13-14, 2024. It was specified that the forum would resume in 2025.
In November 2024, during his first official visit to Hungary, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited leaders of Hungarian companies to participate in the Astana International Forum. At that time, it was announced that the event would take place in May 2025.
