KTZ EXPRESS has been fined for monopolistic pricing on transportation and freight forwarding services, as reported by the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition.
"The Department of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition in Astana conducted an investigation into JSC 'KTZ EXPRESS', during which facts of establishing excessively high prices for transportation and freight forwarding services for military transport in 2021 were uncovered. Following the case review, the company was fined 853,379.7 tenge, with the confiscation of monopolistic income amounting to 10.11 million tenge," the Agency stated.
It is worth noting that earlier signs of abuse of monopolistic position were identified in the operations of LLP 'Batys Petroleum'.
Previously, the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition announced that the contract between LLP 'Parking Space of Astana' and the city administration should be terminated. This ruling was issued by the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan. Additionally, the antimonopoly authority has initiated a pre-trial investigation concerning the Atyrau Oil Refinery, while signs of market abuse were detected at 'Beeline' in the home internet services sector.
