In Zhanaozen, a project for the construction of tourist facilities in Bozzhyra was presented during preliminary public hearings. Kazakhstani investors plan to build a visitor center that can accommodate 30,000 to 40,000 tourists annually. The project has been developed by a company experienced in constructing visitor centers in tourist areas such as Charyn, Kolsai, and Ayusai, as reported by the Zhanaozen akimat. The construction of the facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
“The center will be constructed using lightweight prefabricated structures that do not require deep foundations. The building will be situated at an altitude ranging from 400 to 1,000 meters, depending on the terrain. Issues related to water supply, electricity, and waste processing have been addressed in a way that minimizes harm to the environment. Systems for biological wastewater treatment, waste sorting, and solar energy provision are planned,” the akimat stated.
According to the project, glamping sites, a museum, observation decks, and a tea house will be built at the top of the gorge. Similar tourist facilities are planned to be constructed at the foot of Bozzhyra.
“A tourist village styled as an ethnic aul, eco-glamping, and other tourist facilities will be established here. A road will be constructed, and electricity will be supplied. If the project is successfully implemented, it is expected to create 70 new permanent jobs. Residents of nearby settlements will have the opportunity to sell agricultural products and handicrafts,” the project authors noted.
At an expanded government meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that attractive tourist destinations exist in every region of the country.
“Both foreign and domestic tourists wish to visit unique nature reserves, so it is urgent to address the construction of necessary infrastructure, including through the involvement of private investors. We cannot yield to those who resist any measures to enhance the investment potential of the tourism sector, as was the case with the famous Bozzhyra area in the Mangystau region,” the president said.
