The subsidiary of KazMunayGas, JSC "Embamunaigas," has commenced drilling the first exploratory well in the Taisoigan area of the Atyrau region, as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing the press service of KMG.
"The area consists of a series of supra-salt Mesozoic structures within the Pre-Caspian sedimentary basin. A total of eight structures are planned to be drilled by the end of 2025, with depths ranging from 400 to 3800 meters. The sites have been prepared for drilling based on extensive 3D seismic surveys covering an area of 5600 sq.km," the statement indicates.
It is explained that the geological exploration projects of KazMunayGas are aimed at discovering hydrocarbons and increasing the country's resource base.
"Their implementation is of particular importance in regions with mature fields, where natural depletion of reserves is observed. Drilling exploratory wells in the Taisoigan area is a crucial step in strengthening the energy potential and economic stability of the Atyrau region," KMG clarified.
Previously, fields such as Uaz, North Uaz, Kondybai, and others were discovered near the Taisoigan area.
