The national company "KazMunayGas" (KMG) is discussing the details of acquiring a refinery in Bulgaria at the invitation of "Lukoil," as reported by the KMG press service to Interfax-Kazakhstan.
"KazMunayGas JSC was invited by 'LUKOIL' to participate in the tender for the acquisition of the 'LUKOIL Neftochim Burgas' refinery in Bulgaria," KMG stated on Wednesday.
"Details are under discussion," the national company added.
KMG clarified that given the company's ownership of two refineries in Romania—'Vega' and 'Petromidia'—the acquisition of the refinery in Bulgaria "will enhance the company's capabilities in the international energy market."
"KazMunayGas" is the national operator of Kazakhstan for exploration, extraction, processing, and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the interests of the state in the oil and gas sector.
