In December 2024, the annual inflation rate in Kazakhstan accelerated to 8.6%. In November, the figure was 8.4%. The increase in annual inflation was recorded in 10 regions, while it slowed down in nine and remained unchanged in one, as reported by a correspondent from the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the National Bank.
The highest annual inflation rate was recorded in Astana.
In December, food prices increased to 5.5% year-on-year (compared to 5.4% in November). The most significant price growth in this category was observed in the Zhetysu region (7.9%), while the lowest was in the Turkestan region (3.0%).
The growth rate of non-food prices accelerated to 8.3% year-on-year (up from 8.0% in November). The highest rate was noted in the Turkestan region (13.2%), and the lowest in the Pavlodar region (5.3%).
Prices for paid services in December remained at the same level of 13.3% year-on-year (unchanged from November). At the same time, prices in Astana rose significantly above the national average (16.9%), while in the Turkestan region, they increased significantly less (9.5%).
In December, the monthly inflation rate across the country was 0.9%, which is higher than the historical average of 0.7% for December 2017-2021.
