The past three years and the onset of 2025 have solidified the belief in the emergence of even greater shocks. The election of Trump as the new president of the United States could act as a catalyst for escalating geopolitical and economic issues. External factors are increasingly exerting pressure on developing nations, particularly those reliant on oil and trade with Russia.
I would like to highlight the challenges that could pose a serious test for politicians and undermine public trust in their ability to effectively manage difficulties. Many of these issues did not arise today, but the authorities' tendency to address them ad hoc with quick preventive measures fails to tackle the root causes of the problems.
Currently, the main topic on the economic agenda is the new Tax Code, which the public still needs to review. I would like to start with the primary goal of the Government of Kazakhstan – economic growth. After all, it is this goal that the new Tax Code aims to achieve.
